but I'm not there

personality. Valentyne is very particular with how he presents himself: everything he does has to be perfect, and every one of his actions has to receive a positive response. He has an ideal self that can be described as being "picture perfect", and will refuse to show any emotion or give any response that would illicit a negative perception of his character. He comes off as detached, and tries to keep his emotions as far away from his behavior as possible in order to prevent any actions that would harm his reputation. The persona he's crafted for himself to uphold for the public is that of a warm, welcoming, and heroic personality- but if you paid closer attention to him and were around him for an extended period of time, the reality of it being forced comes to light.This ideal version of himself that he has created leads him to present himself as approachable and polite, and he often goes along with things without much complaint if it'll make him look good.Behind closed doors he's pessimistic, judgemental, combative, and doesn't tend to get along well with other people due to his cold and detached attitude. To those he's familiar with and considers friends or family, however, he has a softer side that he's sensitive about showing.

communication his communication style is clear, polite, and simple- he prefers keeping what he has to say straight to the point and easily understandable to prevent any misunderstandings. he's not fond of big words.
quirk / habit 1 he doesn't usually smile genuinely, and tries to avoid having his emotions painted on his face. despite this, his ears are very expressive.
quirk / habit 2 he has a tendency to hum to himself when he's alone, and fidgets a lot when impatient.

headcanon one. he's very heavily invested in wildlife, often stopping to take notes on different creatures he encounters. he has a journal he keeps on him at all times because of this.
headcanon two. he enjoys singing but does not do so in front of others. this is a well-kept secret. he will play instruments from time to time, though. he favors the harp.
headcanon three. only recently did he pick up pictomancy, but it aligns well with his talents- especially since he struggles now with his preferred media. any opportunity to be able to create art in any capacity makes him particularly happy.

Valentyne and his twin sister Kinara were born in Rabanastre 30 years ago under the Garlean Occupation of Dalmasca. They were born to and raised by a Viera woman and a Shetona man, both of which had left their homelands in search of better opportunities.When the pair reached the age of 16, their parents lost their lives in an attempt they had facilitated to escape from the worsening state of Rabanastre under the occupation. Unfortunately for the family, the twins became separated from their parents in a horrific incident that left them with nothing but the belief that their parents had been lost forever, leaving them with no other option but to continue to flee on their own.Valentyne and Kinara were able to escape from Rabanastre, finding their way to Bozja and eventually escaping into Gangos under the care of the Bozjan Resistance. From there, they were able to leave to Doma, where they found residence in Kugane and quickly took up false identities, with Valentyne being given the name "Haruka" while Kinara was given the name "Riko."

In Kugane, the pair were taken in by a tea house worker, but the most they were granted was a place to live. To make ends meet, both siblings took up odd jobs around Kugane, each making use of their own respective talents in order to scrape together enough funding to continue to survive.By the time they turn 19, they decide to finally leave Kugane behind and instead make their journey to Eorzea, where they briefly resided in Limsa Lominsa before eventually settling in Gridania. Here, they are able to finally stabilize and gather their bearings, joining up with the archer and conjurer guilds, Valentyne learning the bow while Kinara decides to take to the cane.
